Central UMC Welcomes ALL People

We understand showing up at a new place for the first time can be nerve-wracking, so here's more information about Central UMC and what you can expect.

Whether you’re a young adult or senior adult, single or married with kids, we are excited to meet you!

  • What to Expect

Expect to be loved. Expect to be challenged. Expect to be changed. Expect to worship. Expect to grow. Expect to serve. And expect to do it all with lots of wonderful people. So, expect all ages. Our worship service is for all ages! CUMC is a multi-generational, family-oriented church that is welcome to ALL!

We worship traditionally with a piano and organ while singing hymns at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Finally, expect to return. That’s what we are expecting! (and hoping!)

  • Do I need to dress up?

At Central UMC, We are a traditional church. People usually wear what makes them comfortable. Business casual is the norm.

  • What do you offer for my kids?

We love having your children with us at Central UMC! Infants to 5 years old may be dropped off in the Nursery 10 minutes prior to worship. All other ages are welcome to worship with us in the Sanctuary. We don't mind a little noise!

  • Where do I park?

Central UMC has limited parking for a downtown church. You may park in our parking lot, along 2nd St, 3rd St, and in the lot behind the Albemarle City Hall (adjacent to Uwharrie Brewing).

  • What's the service like?

We believe worship is our first priority at Central because worship honors God and his teachings as found in the Holy Scriptures. What we experience in worship guides us in our everyday lives. Currently, we have only one style of worship - traditional. A traditional service means that we sing hymns accompanied by a piano or organ. The pastor and choir wear robes. We recite the creeds and pray the Lord's Prayer.
